Trip to Washington

In April, actually April 29th, Chandler's 1 month birthday, I took Jackson and Chandler to Washington to visit my dad. Anyone who knows my wild sleepless Jackson will be surprised to hear that he fell asleep on the way to the airport and slept for 2 hours while we waited to board! I woke him up when we boarded the plane so I could get him out of the stroller and into his car seat. He was in awe as we took off, even though it was 8:30pm and so it was dark. After we were in the air he got board looking out the dark window and fell back asleep. Even though Jack was asleep in the airport I wouldn't have survived getting my 2 boys through security if they hadn't allowed my mom to come and help me to the gate! On the way back from Washington I had a Nintendo DS, portable DVD player and lots of snacks for Jack, and the boys were absolute angels!!
We had a wonderful weekend with my dad, step-mom, and step-sister Rachael. My dad has 13 brothers and sisters, I got to visit several of them which was fun. The whole trip I was trying to adjust to the experience of an adult, since all the times we'd visited my dad's family in Washington I had been a kid and instead of hanging around and chatting with aunts and uncle I was outside playing with brothers and cousin and climbing trees and such! We also went to one of Rachael's tennis matches, went to the Oregon zoo, Jack played fetch with their dogs, Luna and Shasta, we ate ice cream with hand-picked huckleberries on top, and just had a lot of fun!
When we got to the zoo we didn't go in right away, we sat in a meadow near by and ate lunch. There was a big furry(?) tree next to us, and dad pretended there was a bear in it trying to pull him in and he wanted Jackson to save him. Jack was really funny trying not to get too close to the tree, but still wanted to save papa, and to see the "brown bear in the tree". After we left the zoo the only animal Jackson wanted to discuss was the one in the tree that didn't even exist. Every once in a while he will still find a bush or tree that he decides has a bear in it. He's got a fun imagination!
