Jason's birthday was August 18th and I made the German Chocolate cake that has become a tradition for Jason's birthday. Jackson enjoyed watching Jason open gifts and blow out candles, even though he didn't know he was going to get to have his own birthday 5 days later! Jackson's favorite part of Jason's birthday was tearing the wrapping paper into the smallest pieces he could manage.

Saturday the 23rd, Jason started school. While he was at school Jackson and I took care of last minute party details; such as spending an hour at my in-laws' programming the Elmo Phone that we got Jackson, so when he opened it, Elmo would say "Jackson" instead of "Michael". The party was a blast. We packed our family to full capacity, and opened presents, ate ice cream and cupcakes (shaped into baseballs, basketballs, and footballs- an idea I stole from Fry's)and played on the blow-up waterslide I borrowed from my in-laws. All in all, the first party at the Smith house was a huge success, other than the half an hour that the Elmo phone went missing!
